Professional Social Circus Training (PA) Aug 19–22
Posted June 26, 2009

Note: Unclear how you could participate in AYCO activities and this at the same time, but at least you'll be in the same place. Posted as received.

The American Youth Circus Organization in cooperation and with support from Cirque du Soleil, is hosting a four-day teacher training for coaches working the in field of social circus. Two professionals from Cirque du Soleil's Social Circus Training Program will provide the training. The Social Circus Training Program is a world-wide program launched in 2000 to promote international networking around social circus teacher training and youth art intervention initiatives.

Themes included in the training include social games (team building, trust, communication, etc.); social circus objectives and methodology; role of the social circus instructor; youth realities, safety measures, codes of ethics, workshop development, leading creation exercises; and more.

Participants will have the opportunity to participate in some workshops taking place at the festival at designated times.

The Training is limited to 12 participants. They should be 18 years or older with basic skills in coaching fundamental circus skills. Priority will be given to those who are currently or have clear plans to be working in areas of social circus.
