Performing Puppetry Classes Jan. 26 - Mar.1
Posted January 15, 2008
Note: Although puppetry isn't considered a traditional circus art,
we've seen it used to great effect in plenty of circuses. Besides,
it's cool. Maybe we should have named it VarietyNYC.com. Posted as
received.
A CLASS in Performing Puppetry: the texture of movement
presented by imnotlost in NYC
Have you ever wanted to work with puppets? Performing Puppetry is a
course for adults that looks at how to manipulate puppets with both
dynamism and grace. You'll finish the course with a practice puppet,
the beginning of a puppet show or two, and the tools to go home and
complete it.
Performing Puppetry begins with the basics, puppet eyes, breath, and
weight, and goes on to consider specificity and rhythm alone, in
pairs, and with groups of puppets. The class is unique in its use of
dance/physical theater techniques to develop creative movement and
story in your puppet shows.
Performing Pupppetry is for adult beginners and intermediate
practitioners. Actors, dancers, and artists are welcome. Classes will
be held in the West Village in NYC. Class size is limited to 10
people.
