Bouffon Workshop w/ Master Teacher, Eric Davis
A FUN, PLAYFUL, EXPLORATION FOR ACTORS, WRITERS, DIRECTORS AND MOVERS
Who is this person, who is charming, grotesque, base, intelligent,
dangerous, entertaining and disturbing all at the same time?
The bouffons are the outsiders. Cast out from society and demonized
for their grotesque or socially unacceptable qualities. They are spit
upon and reviled 364 days a year. However, there is also that one
day- when this pack of misfits are invited to perform for those
beautiful people who once so happily stoned them. Mind you, the life
of a monster is worth nothing, so these social deviants must employ
their charm, intelligence and humor to earn the right to remain on the
stage. A ferocious social satire is about to explode, liberating the
energy in the room with an immense pleasure to parody and to
play.
In this workshop, participants will explore:
Connecting with the audience
Parodying societal maladies and hypocrisy
Creating complex physical characters
Playing upon contrasts of theme and rhythm
Being 100 % present and captivating
@ 440 Studios (440 Lafayette at Astor.
Sundays, Jan 20-March 9 (8 sessions)
3:30 PM - 6:30 PM
FEE: $300
