Since 1993, Viveca Gardiner has produced variety arts, circus, and theater; performed as a juggler, ringmistress, trapeze artist, stilt walker, and roller skater; and worked backstage on wardrobe, concessions, ticketing, rigging, electrics, sound, sets, tent work, and house management. She has sawdust in her veins.
Viveca has taught circus skills to hundreds of children and adults in residencies, in- and after-school programs, continuing education courses, private lessons, special events, and corporate seminars.
In 2001, Viveca founded Playful Productions, which provides circus performers and variety artists for special events, corporate training, and education programs. Besides running her own business, she is a contributing editor of JUGGLE magazine; director of youth programs of the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus; company manager of the Flying Karamazov Brothers; an occasional coach with Circus of the Kids; and a member of the NYC Jugglers, the International Jugglers' Association, and the American Youth Circus Organization. Before striking out on her own, Viveca was a director of theBig Apple Circus where she developed and managed community programs and wrote a study guide about circus arts and a circus-themed activity book for hospitalized children.
She has a bachelor's degree in literature from Harvard University and a master's degree in management from the Yale School of Management.
