Posted October 27, 2008
Note: Lovely people. Posted as received.
ARTFARM's new Circus for a Fragile Planet will be debuting on November
7 and 8 in Middletown.
Performances of this family-friendly spectacle of science and art will
be held both evenings at 7 pm at the First United Methodist Church at
24 Old Church Street.
Created and directed by ARTFARM's Executive Director Dic Wheeler,
Circus for a Fragile Planet is an hour-long touring circus production
built around a strong core of environmental education. In addition to
lively clown theater and solid science, the circus includes juggling,
acrobatics, unicycling, stilt dancing and contortion. The show is
designed for adults and teenagers, but it has played successfully at
elementary schools as well as universities. Where ever it plays,
Circus for a Fragile Planet leaves its audience breathless with awe,
sore from laughing, and inspired to take action to safeguard the
planet's future.
Wheeler performs in the show as the Austrian environmental scientist
Professor Offli Varminhere. He has been performing, teaching and
directing circus and physical comedy for nearly thirty years. Wheeler
was the artistic director of Oddfellows Playhouse Youth Theater for
nearly twenty years, during which time he founded the Children's
Circus of Middletown and the Oddfellows Playhouse Traveling Circus.

November 8 at 7 pm: Middletown debut of the NEW Circus for a Fragile
Planet at the First United Methodist Church, 24 Old Church Street in

and is one half of the Connecticut-based performing duo Matica. He has
performed throughout the United States, Europe and Central and South
America, and teaches circus arts at the Children's Circus of
Middletown.
The new cast also includes veteran Circus for a Fragile Planet

State University. Pappalardo is a uniquely talented contortionist and
