Speigeltent Returns to NYC August 6-November 2

Two summers ago it came with one main show, last summer with two, and
this year the Speigeltent returns to lower Manhattan with three big
variety shows (and, presumably, multiple nights of music and
one-offs). In fact, word on the street has it they're cramming two
tents onto that same plaza at the South Street Seaport. All three main
productions feature variety arts:
Absinthe

A night time saunter through the strangest, most sultry circus in
town. Absinthe collides fair ground attraction with torch song and
spectacle within the elegant, sumptuous surrounds of this exceptional
venue.
La Vie
La Vie, created by Montreal's sizzling circus arts company, The 7
Fingers, takes you on a journey from death to beyond.
A black late night comedy, hosted by an all-seeing magnetic ringmaster
stuck with all of them and all of us - somewhere between heaven and
hell - in an acrobatic, delicately balanced riot otherwise known as
purgatory.
A theatre-circus spectacle created just for New York's Spiegelworld
season. Riveting, risqué, moving and without fear, these performers
defy laws of nature to prove themselves above all
judgement....
Desir
WORLD PREMIERE!

Before Moulin Rouge, before Folies Bergere, there was DESIR, the jewel
of Paris. The producers of ABSINTHE and LA VIE present the world
premiere of a stunning new theatrical circus experience which takes
you backstage at the greatest nightclub the world has ever seen. A
meeting place for showgirls and soldiers, bejeweled courtesans and
maharajahs, DESIR is a carnival world devoted to the pursuit of
beauty, clever seductions, and breathtaking displays of acrobatic
wonder. It is a sparkling merry-go-round where your last love affair
is merely an entree to your next encounter.
