The 7 Fingers nominated in New York 53rd Drama Desk Awards
Following a month long stay at the New Victory Theater last March, The
7 Fingers' second production, TRACES, was nominated for two Drama Desk
awards:
Outstanding Choreography (Shana Carroll, Gypsy Snider)
Unique Theatrical Experience
The Drama Desk is an organization of theater critics, writers and
editors that honors excellence in all areas of New York theater since
1955: Broadway, Off-Broadway, Off-Off-Broadway and not-for-profit. The
Drama Desk was the first organization to recognize the great talents
of the likes of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Dustin Hoffman.
The 53rd Annual Drama Desk Awards will be held Sunday, May 18, 2008,
in the LaGuardia Concert Hall at Lincoln Center. The awards show will
be webcast for the sixth year in a row by TheaterMania.com. It will also be broadcast live on
satellite radio's XM – 28 On Broadway for the second consecutive
year.
This is a wonderful occasion to review TRACES accomplishments from its
beginning.
The 7 Fingers' second creation was first presented in January 2006 at
the Corona Theater in Montreal, it featured five young multi-talented
artists, newly graduated from the National Circus School in
Montreal.
TRACES rapidly won the hearts of audiences and critics alike and
immediately started its world tour. Since its' creation, the show has
been played more than 300 times in 13 countries, it was nominated as
one of the 5 best shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, it was
presented at the Commonwealth Games Festival in Melbourne and has
appeared on a multitude of television programs, like "Le Plus Grand
Cabaret du Monde", a French variety show. A special event for ARCOR
won a Gold Medal at the Eva Awards during the CEBIT fair in Germany.
The artists also participated in the Torino Olympic Games Closing
Ceremony, representing Vancouver 2010.
TRACES is still on the road and will spend this spring touring Europe.
