The circus arts will survive and grow!
As the economy plunges deeper into recession, full-time workers are being laid off by the thousands,
and everyone we know is reporting fewer gigs, smaller gigs, and more
client cancelations, we're surprised to note that the most active
posting category this month was for circus performers and teachers.
We listed more than five decent, ongoing job openings in January
and one call for submissions to a festival whose organizers
specifically told us they'd welcome variety-based theater works. Keep
sending in those gig listings, and help keep the variety arts strong
through a tough time.
If you do get a job (or an employee) through the site, please consider
giving a portion of the gig fee (or salary) back to the site that helped you.
We hope to continue offering free listings with full contact
information available—no fee to post, no fee to respond. Most
agents charge at least 10% if you get the job, and many make you pay
just to try. If you value our community's free site, please put your
money where your heart is.
Finally, big news in the NYC juggling community is SAVE THE DATE:
NYC's 8th Annual Juggle This will be April 3-5, 2009. Details to come
soon.
Stay warm, and keep juggling, hanging, clowning, and tumbling,
From your friends,
Viveca & Cynthia
