Handbalance Workshop Feb 19
Posted February 15, 2012
Intermediate/advanced handbalance workshop with Charlotte Greenblatt
Prerequisite: You must be able to hold a handstand for one minute to take this class.
This rigorous handbalance workshop is designed to take intermediate or advanced students to the next level of comfort and capability on their hands. Focusing on alignment, placement, and endurance, each student will be guided in developing their own training regime, suited to their individual needs and goals. The class will focus on working towards one-arm handstands as well as side-bending and twisting positions.
Charlotte Greenblatt was born and raised in San Diego, and completed a bachelor's degree in mathematics at UC Berkeley before moving to Brussels to train as a handbalancer. She trained for three years at the Ecole Superieure des Arts du Cirque, with Slava Kukushkin, one of Europe's best handbalance coaches. Since graduating from ESAC she has performed her act in Sweden, Belgium, Germany, France, Holland, and Spain, and is currently touring North America with Cirque Mechanic's Boomtown. Her teaching draws on Russian handbalance technique, focusing on perfect shoulder placement and body alignment, as well as her years of experience as a contemporary dancer and her first-hand experience of recovering from and
preventing injury.
