TRAINING
Fabric, Lyra, & Aerial Dance Classes
Posted January 31, 2011
Beginner and open-level aerial fabric lass
Learn the fundamentals of aerial fabric (sometimes referred to as "tissu," "silks," or "chiffon"). Just as you've seen in the modern circuses and variety shows and of course in Las Vegas!! Climbing, wraps, foot locks, drops and poses, build muscle and with gravity! Aerial dance is sweeping the country, and at MMAC we are no different. Use all your dance ability along with a series of aerial apparatus from stretching, to combinations, all without the constraints of the ground!
Tuesdays & Thursdays, 10:30am–noon

Open-level lyra
Also known as "cerceux" or "hoop," lyra is a great way to combine fitness with aerial dance. The lyra is a steel hoop about 36" in diameter. It helps build strength and flexibility. Prior experience is helpful, but you can start with just an open mind and a sense of adventure!
Thursdays, noon–1pm
