NYC UniFest Seeks Volunteers Sep 3–5
Posted August 10, 2010
Note: Posted as received.
Note: This is going to be such a fun event! Whether or not you can volunteer, definitely plan to attend. Event info here.
The Bindlestiff Family Cirkus is producing the first-ever NYC Unicycle Festival this Labor Day weekend, and we need your help! We are looking for volunteers interested in helping make this exciting event happen. We will be sending out more detailed info soon, but I wanted to give a heads up and find out who is interested so I can make sure you get a chance to be involved.
The festival will take place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; September 3, 4, and 5. The main feature of the festival (and what we need the most volunteers for) is a day-long series of events on Governors Island on Saturday from noon–5pm. We would also love to have some people to help on Friday (Brooklyn unicycle ride) and Sunday (activities in Riverside Park).
In addition to volunteers for the event itself, we could also use some help promoting it around NYC with posters and flyers (Online promotion via facebook/twitter would be good too.)
If you want to help with postering/flyering and/or get involved during what promises to be a really fun weekend, contact Bindlestiff Volunteer Coordinator Ellia Bisker at ellia@bindlestiff.org.
About the NYC Unicycle Festival:
NYC's first Unicycle Festival will be rolling across New York City this September. The growing popularity of this quirky pastime, combined with the City's initiatives to encourage cycling, make this a timely opportunity to celebrate the unicycle. 2010 is the inaugural year of a festival destined to become an annual Big Apple tradition.
The New York City Unicycle Festival seeks to bring together recreational riders, world-class performers, mountain and off-road unicycle enthusiasts, mono-wheel vehicle inventors, and the thousands of people who have not ridden in umpteen years along with circus enthusiasts, extreme sports viewers, and anyone seeking an unusual sight—even for NYC!
When:
Friday, September 3, 2–8pm: City Hall, Manhattan–Coney Island, Brooklyn
Saturday, September 4, noon–5pm: Governor's Island
Sunday, September 5, 1–5pm: Grant's Tomb, Manhattan
