The Children's Circus of Middletown exists to provide children in
Middletown with a safe, fun and challenging recreational summer
program grounded in the circus arts and to provide the city with a
large-scale, high-quality, completely home-grown arts event which
includes and reflects all segments of the community. The Children's
Circus offers 220 young people (ages 8–15) a five-week, half-day
training program in circus skills and performance leading up to a
single final show which attracts an audience of roughly 2,000 people.
The Circus offers classes led by qualified circus artists in the areas
of acrobatics, unicycling, stilting, juggling, clowning, and dance.
The Circus begins operation the first week of July and culminates in a
public performance the first week of August.
The Circus Director (CD) will work in the spring to assist with hiring
counselors and support staff in addition to meeting with the creative
team for the Circus. The Circus Director reports to the Managing
Director of Oddfellows Playhouse and works collaboratively on a daily
basis with the Site Director.
The Circus Director is the guiding visionary for the entire Circus
