  Wanted: Lorenzo Pisoni Understudy
Posted February 2, 2009

Note: Could be a great role for the right actor/clown/juggler/acrobat. Have you got what it takes? Posted as received.

Manhattan Theatre Club: Actor/clown/acrobat search

"HUMOR ABUSE"

Director: Erica Schmidt
Manhattan Theatre Club
Created by: Lorenzo Pisoni & Erica Schmidt

Stage II, Lort D
Casting: David Caparelliotis/Kelly Gillespie
Contract begins: 2/19/09
Opens: 3/10/09
Runs for 10-13 weeks

Understudy must attend all performances and be available for up to 10 hours of rehearsal per week—probably on Thursdays and Fridays.

HUMOR ABUSE is the unique story of Lorenzo Pisoni's upbringing as the youngest member of the Pickle Family Circus, the Bay Area's tiny big top that entertained thousands of people worldwide and launched the careers of several legendary performers. Filled with the clowning that Pisoni learned at his father's knee, and the wonder, heartache and complexity of stepping into (and out of) his father's shoes, HUMOR ABUSE, shows that running away with the circus isn't always all fun and games.

SEEKING ONE ACTOR TO UNDERSTUDY LORENZO (played by LORENZO PISONI): 30s. Charming actor and personality, very adept at connecting with the audience. Resemblance to Lorenzo a big plus (6'1", athletic build, dark hair). Actor must also have significant clowning/circus skills, including, but not limited to: acrobatics, juggling, stunts, balancing objects on the face, Commedia characters w/ mask, silent clowning/mime. (The tumbling aspect of this role is pretty important, as the climax of the show involves a 108, but if you have all the other skills but are a weak tumbler, drop a line anyway—we'll discuss.)
