Searching for Comedic Jugglers/ Circus Performer
Who we are:
NYLaughs, Inc. is a new not-for-profit corporation that wants to
change the cultural landscape of the Big Apple through humor. We seek
to elevate the comic arts and provide laughter for free to New Yorkers
on a consistent basis by producing outdoor comedy shows throughout the
City's public venues. As New Yorkers, we are inspired by Joseph
Papp's vision for presenting productions to the public free of charge
and we share the same passion for contributing to the cultural
well-being of New York. We won our first grant from the Lower
Manhattan Cultural Council and the New York City Department of
Cultural Affairs which further validates our mission. We just wrapped
a 6 show series of outdoor shows in Tompkins Square Park. Check us
out at www.nylaughs.org!
Although we are primarily stand-up based, we are also looking to widen
the realm of comic performances we present at each show. We've had
comic musicians at many of our events and invited the NYC complaint
choir to kick-off our last show. I've been looking for more comedy
physical theater artists to join our ranks.
What we we're in search of now...
We've been asked to be a venue for the NY Underground Comedy Festival
this Friday from 6-8 pm in Tompkins Square Park. We wondered if
there might be a comic juggler or circus performer that might be
interested in kicking off the show with a 10 minute performance. I
don't have a budget to pay anyone, but it is part of a festival, so
there may be press. Our audiences are typically fun, responsive and
appreciative.
